Alumni associations can greatly impact one institutions' promotion and create a supportive network that brings together former and current students and professors. Having this in mind, the Alumni Association of Second Gymnasium decided to build a web portal to connect students, teachers, and staff members.

As a team that is always eager to help improve educational institutions' work by sharing our knowledge or building portals with comprehensive tools to support their initiatives, we were happy to get involved in this project. We created a custom web portal using our Webricks CMS as a foundation base and developed additional modules to support the system and Association's activities.

Besides providing information about the Association and news about school events and competitions, this portal allows users to search the alumni base, see information about the members, and filter available data. Additionally, Gymnasium's former and current students and professors can register, edit their profiles and connect with their classmates and colleagues.

By analyzing existing data resources and recognizing the need to collect additional information about students and professors, we agreed with the client to create a system that includes mutual collaboration activities to provide correct data on the portal. This means that once they get verified, all end-users can add more information about their class and actively contribute to building the network. These steps are secured by creating data visibility rules and adding data protection principles specifically adjusted for this system.

We strongly believe that this portal will encourage building an environment for new initiatives led by the alumni network, allow the Second Gymnasium to benefit from its graduates' skills and experience, and become a meeting point for all students and professors who want to share their expertise and support members in a professional way.
